Jerry Reed Kicks Butt on the guitar.......Brad Paisley plays in that exact same style. Jerry Reed is way under-rated.

I do like Tipton's solo's . I was listening to "Delivering the Goods" on the way home last night. The ending riff is awesome. I want to learn that !

    Mark Tremonti

As very much a Creed non-fan, I didn't realize Tremonti was such a great guitarist until Alter Bridge... And then I discovered his solo stuff and was totally blown away. A personal fave that a lot of people will probably look at like :squint::spock::scratch:

There are way to many guitarist to pick 3 . I liked AL Dimeola in his "Return to Forever" jazz fusion days with that all star band. I chose Uli Roth for the work he did in Scorpions. But Mathias is also quite good. Uli is more of a Hendrix style player . In fact he was so obsessed with Hendrix he dated his girl friend later on.

Also I did not mention Lifeson and that's a crime . Of course there are many players that are very talented.
    How about Mart Friedman ?
    Jason Becker , Dime , Zack ?

    Wow, no love for...

    1. Don Felder?

    2. Gary Rossington?

    3. Elliot Easton?

Impossible to pick 3 favorites, because the list in my head changes all the time.

    1. Gilmour

    2. Gains

    3. Allman

    4. Betts

    5. Collins

    6. Walsh

    7. Ralphs

I better stop, going way beyond the intent of the thread :erk:

1.Vinnie Moore, puts guys like Satch to shame.
The thing is you can be the best technically minded player on the planet but if your songs dont project interesting melodies they do nothing to stimulate any sort of excitement.

To the Core and Aerial Visions albums for me are the top 2 guitar shred albums of all time.

Crazy trying to narrow it down to three (!!) but INPO:

Michael Lee Firkins (has it all for me...tone, feel, extreme skill, composition chops that match his playing chops, melodic)

Greg Howe (again, crazy level of skill but his funkiness and vibe separate his music and playing from a lot of others as it never feels forced, you can tell he's a pure, natural monster with massive harmonic range.

Satriani (might not be as highly skilled as others but his writing has a uniqueness that personally just speaks to me, his m-u-s-i-c is more memorable than many other players despite their techincal abilities.

A few others I'd list if we were just mentioning some favs in general:

    Neal Schon
    Jeff Beck
    Tony MacAlpine
    Jimi
    Eddie
    Chuck Berry
