From what I've gathered from reading on speaker design - primarily HiFi you can build them too small and too big but there is a wiiiiiddddeeee range in between that will sound good. If I ever have access to a spectrum analyzer and a place to play loud I've always wanted to mod a closed back cab by adding an inch of depth and record the result. Add another inch, record result. Rinse and repeat out to a stupid number - originally thinking +12". Just to see [and hear] what changes frequency wise. Maybe someday. Russ
If he didn't seal the double cab really well, then I have think he didn't accurately represent a extra deep cab. You need a tight seal on all closed back cabs. The way he is doing it would be more akin to open back cabs than double depth cabs, IMHO.
I agree. It doesn't sound bad but the original cab sounds "tight" and "snappy" the way I like it. Downtuned guys may like it.
