After acquiring the Origin 20 and Vintage Modern, I want to expand my Marshall tonal palette to include one of the solid state/MOSFET or hybrid heads. I’ve been looking at the Lead 100 MOSFET, 8100, AVT50H, as well as the Lead 12 and 15 heads, but am open to any SS or hybrid head that sounds good and is in good working order. Really looking at heads only since studio space is very limited. I’m located in Chicagoland in case you’re local.

Thanks, I guess if the price is right and I like the sounds (on YouTube) then I’m open. It seems the older generations get more props, but I feel like that happens regardless.

It’s worth keeping your eyes out for a #2199 Master Lead combo

you can normally get them for what the speakers are worth, they are a cracking little lightweight combo with decent crunch

As it turns out, this morning I snagged a Lead 100 MOSFET from GC. With tax and shipping it was a bit more than I intended to spend, but at least returns are easy if something is wrong or I decide it’s not for me. GC listed it as “great” condition, so we’ll see.

I'll probably end up looking for a Lead 100 Mosfet as well, eventually. I've decided to complete the collection of all the 80s solid state Lead series amps just because I already have a good start on it. I have Lead 12s, a Lead 20, and made an offer on a 30 watt master lead combo that will probably be accepted.

I have a 1966B 2x12 that's "correct" for a Lead 100 Mosfet amp, and it sounds very good. It has two V30s in it. I wouldn't mind finding a 1966A to match it.

I’ve seen them with supposedly matching 1965A and B 4x10 cabs too. Are both correct? I wonder how the 3210 would sound through a quad of G10 Greenbacks.

Probably pretty good. I think the G10 Greenbacks are quite good sounding speakers.

The 1965 cabinets are 4x10s. The 1966 cabinets are 2x12s in the same dimensions.

I don't know if the Lead 100 Mosfet head was available in a bundle deal with the cabinets or not. But I must assume that
the buyer had the option of buying whatever cabinets he wanted, whether in a bundle or not.

check out a Marshall VS100 Head or combo , if you can find one , I rebuilt a 100 watt combo ( a little soldering , installed a new reverb tank and cleaned all the pots with DeOxit " the handy man's secret weapon " ) and absolutely love it .I have it attached to a 1960 B cab to make some noise when I feel like getting rowdy !

Plus one on the 8100. Plus two on the 8200.
If you can find one look for a 3110. Its the same mosfet design but came with two matching 1x12 cabs to make a mid size stack. At 100 watts its loud and sounds great. I found mine a few years ago in a pawn shop for $150. Ill try and post a pic tomorrow.

I had a 1966a cab bought it cause I was doing club tours out of a rental van and had very limited truck space(4 guys equipment and bags in one van) Mine had g12t in them but it was a good sounding cab....
Sold it to a friend....he likes it too.

Mine would have originally had T75s in it based on the 150 watt power rating on the ID plate. But the V30s sound good. If I should decide to sell the cab, I could provide it with either type. I have some spare T75s.

I have a lead 100 I’m not using. On the NW side. Out of town until the weekend but I’ll send some pics if you’re interested. Mandautorepair@gmail.com

That poor cabinet looks like it's been a scratching post for a cat for a couple of decades! That cabinet is pretty cool, though. Thanks, I'm actually not on Facebook.

I meant the head cabinet is pretty cool. The Randall cab, not so much.

I picked up this 8100 cheap in 2019, I don't recall the price but it was reasonable. Sounds great into a 1x12 T75. Also have a Lead 12 and DSL1HR, both are phenomenal.

I'd like to thank you publicly for the friendly deal and the killer Lead 100 MOSFET. Definitely made my MOSFET dreams come true!
