I never thought I could hate someone more than virus designers in the computer world but the designers of windows 8 just made my hate list about even.

I bought a laptop yesterday to start running and learning recording programs and haven't even begun those, because I am lost and pissed and just completely angered at just learning how to use windows 8 and I HATE those "metro" squares facing me from the screen. If I want android or iphone crap I'll get one of those I don't want that shit on my computer.

I don't give a rats ass about whats the latest trending out there I don't care about hulu, sports, amazon, the current temperature and all that other bull shit if I want to know that I'll internet it .

I'd like to slap the microsoft designers of windows 8 and am going to get the classic shell so I can move with my precious time and get to using the computer like I want to.

Windows 9 is just around the corner. Can't wait to see what they do with it, but I haven't bothered with 8 at all.

Dude, it's time to dump that conniving slut PC and move onto a loyal / loving Mac. You're a good guy who deserves the right computer relationship.

I had Windows 8 for a while. I upgraded back to windows 7. Much better for me. I've got a Mac too, which would probably be my over all choice since it fits my needs more. I'm going to see what Windows 9 is like. Supposedly its going to be out in a year or so and supposedly it will have an old fashioned start menu like W7. If it moves away from the Metro touch screen crap, I might upgrade to it.

Serves you right for purchasing a Win8 machine.

I don't feel sorry for you at all.

A lesson learned for me, looks like every other Windows OS sucks.

    Windows 98SE - Shitty
    Windows 2000 - Good
Windows ME - Over level 9000 Shitty
    Windows XP - Good
    Windows Vista - Shitty
    Windows 7 - Good
    Windows 8 - Shitty

Windows 8 is excellent on my phone... best phone functionality I've ever used
(and yes I've had an iPhone 4S)

    Windows tablets seem fine too...

Not sure you should really use windows 8 without a touch screen
    that's kinda how it works

Well Microsoft were fools to think that a huge part of their customer base wanted a "phone based" operating system. I don't think it is faster. You have to click on where you want to go, click again when you get there, click again to open a file. Your document files are strewn all over the place and not in alphabetical order. Trying to reboot it is an ordeal.

I buy a PC to use. I don't buy one to tap on multi-colored squares to see what the weather will be tomorrow.

If you like WIN 8, great, but Microsoft better realize that that their over 45 customer base were real big fans of XP. Their next OS had better take this into consideration.

This is why they are so hurriedly working on Win9.

And yes, we have hashed all this out before... I think Frankie is the only IT guy I know that likes Win8 on a non-touchscreen computer.

M$ KNOWS they screwed up again, thinking that all the fanboys would hop right on board and ride the touchscreen bandwagon right to the bank. And I think it is actually true, that they tend to release every other OS with some actual thought put into it...

Having used it, and scanning the innards of Win8 I cannot recommend it to anyone without a touch screen. If you buy a new computer, without doing your research first, you deserve what you get. You might as well go get a Mac and add it to your toybox as you watch cartoons all day eating chocolate and drinking from your sippy-cup.

Real machines don't run toy OS's...

HP and Dell have been doing that since Win8 was released...

This is why I have no sympathy for people who bought Win8.

    Win7 is available everywhere...
