Ever since I started looking for another Marshall a couple of months ago, this one has been on the Guitar Center website:

    https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Marshall/JCM900-100W-Tube-Guitar-Amp-Head.gc

Just on the off chance someone bites on it after I post this, here's a screenshot:

So why the ridiculous price on this? It doesn't say it's a reissue, and even if it is, isn't this price in the stratosphere? Or has the JCM 900 become super popular?

Since I've been looking, there have been other 900's listed at lower prices that all sold.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Plus, and I forgot this part, there's no footswitch showing in the picture which likely means it doesn't come with one.

Yeah. The 900 isn't "that" much on my radar currently, but I wouldn't pass one up for a great deal.

I can't think of a good reason other than they're waiting for the right sucker, er buyer, to come along.

They are plenty , you could try to get your hands on an SL-X if possible!

Yeah, I've heard good things about the SL-X model. Never tried one, though.

Well if this can help ,
Dave Friedman doesn’t really care for 900’s but if he had to choose , he would take the SL-X

Not too long ago the DRs were around 500 tops. I paid 525 fpr my MKIII, but that was almost 20 years ago!

Meh, they're just fishing. From GPU's to automotive chips, the industry is sorta psychotic right now. They're hoping for a dude that likes JCM 900 tones and might pay the higher price.

I can get one locally for about 750. Not very interested. It's a good amp but I'm just so much a JMP guy...

Ok, I own an early JCM 900 4502 (el 34version) and one of the first JCM 900 4102 that sported the 5881 valves. I believe that is a JCM 900 4100 (el 34 version) and if it’s working properly it might be worth 1500$. Those amps are a pain in the ass to maintain as I repair my 4502 on an annual basis at this point and am currently changing the 4102 from 5881 to el34 valves along with some other mods. Be prepared to work on it, of course I’d check the output transformer and power transformers to see if they’ve been changed out. Let the buyer beware.

Seller doesn't really want to sell it unless they get a very good price for it.
