It seems when I'm on various forums, Facebook posts, selling sites, etc., that when a guitar is beat up - chipped, dinged, scratched - worn finish, etc., it's almost always a Strat, followed by Tele's. Sure, there are some Les Paul's and others on occasion, but those seem to be the exception. Oh, and this is a purely non-scientific observation on my part so I don't have any facts to back it up. Just seems to be what I notice.
They're highly fixable modular 65yo designs that have had affordable options for a long time. They're also quite utilitarian and lack exquisite embellishments. The idea of a Fender-as-a-prize-collectible that could be shockingly expensive and gets stored behind glass is fairly recent. Historically, they've been the Ford trucks of guitars. People use em, heavily and a lot, and they hold up pretty well, but nobody frets the scratches. They accumulate wear and tear, often for generations. PS also, the very old finishes were quite fragile
cuz they r not a pointy guitar ,because inkskirt stankskirt uses them ,cuz even people who like them ,don't like em that much ,cuz they suxorrrrzzzz. so there . pointy guitars ftw
I'm sorry, but Ibanez Shovel = Pointy??? Error. Does not compute. Srsly, my brain files it under least-pointy-guitar-ever
They are played more than the prestige LP’s ? I love my fenders, but right now they hardly ever go back in the case, but my LP’s do. Cheers
You cant treat a Gibson like a fender or you will break the headstock Fenders are like tanks you really cant mess them up like a Gibson Yeah the Gibsons sound better but they are much more fragile IMO Everything on a Fender is replaceable Recording, studio, sound quality = Gibson On the road, touring gigging, bashing around = Fender Thats my opinion
Because tone junky’s get stoned on those single coils and neck profiles jumbo frets . The strat is built to play not to look at
Because if it fits not sounding good then it fits not looking good. With a strat there is that intrinsic harmony.
The G string stays in tune after a week of sliding across the floorboard of my car. I don't need cases for my Strats.
Interesting responses - thanks I just thought it was an interesting observation. I'm not one of those guys that has to have every scratch or dent fixed, but I do like to take care of my gear. Whether it's my $250 Ibanez AX or my $3K PRS, it doesn't matter. I treat them all the same. I see these guys playing a beat to crap Strat, finish rubbed off to bare wood, dents, chips, etc., and I say to myself that thing must play like butter. If not, I personally wouldn't be using it. But again, that's just me.
