    Hi all

A couple of DSLs are available to me. 1999 and 2002. My friend had a DSL100 a while back (can't remember the year) and he had the dreaded Bias Drift and heat issue. He ended up getting the latest revision board from Marshall and swapping it out (didn't stop the audible Power TX hum though).

Is it the case that the later the model, the later the board and therefore the least issues? Seems they went through 5 board iterations? With the last one being the least problematic I guess?

I don't think the boards were really fixed until 2005, but I'm not sure. Marshall has said the issue wasn't universal - they could be pulling a CYA or they could be taking a reasonable "don't fix it 'til it's broke" approach.

Does it have to be a 100-watter?

I think both on offer are 100s yeah. I'm not committed, it's just that they are cheap, so I'm considering it. Backup amp maybe.

from what I understand, mid '04. There's a certain board number revision though. There's a site w/ pictures of both boards.

Here, about 2/3's the way down:

Great info! For a goober like me, I wouldn't be able to tell an early '04 from a later one so I'd probably be hunting for the '05 (hence my suggestion).

OP here. So I picked up the DSL. Both actually! This is a '99 and an '02. When I picked them up, the seller said that one of them had a board replaced at some point. So I opened them both up, and BOTH have the JCM2-60-00 issue 20 boards. They have the CON15 and tested by ATE stickers. Does this mean both have the latest boards? If so, this is pleasing.

Owner also said one of them had a hum, from his memory. I didn't hear it yet, so not sure which one, but I can see that someone has put an extra Earth cable between the top of the Chassis and the rear, removable grill. Any idea what the purpose of that would be?
