    I think the guy channeling Satriani's inner spirit in that video is tapping starting right about the 30 second mark.

    It's more tapping than anything else. His right hand is crossed over to mute the strings as he releases them. But there's some HO/PO going on there as well.

    "That guy" is Joe Satriani. He's not channeling anything.

    FFX has it right, it's a mute with the right and hammer and pull offs...

    It's still one of the coolest sounding licks I've ever heard
