So I get an email every month from Amazon showing me new stuff that is included with my Prime membership. One was a free album that I named in the title of this thread that I can stream through Amazon music. The songs sound rerecorded. They are not live. One by Poison had the vocals all out of tune along with the guitar. They are all different. Why would they rerecord this way?

BTW, I made it to the Bullet Boys Smooth Up in Ya and had to stop because it was awesome... sounded even better than the original. I keep replaying it over and over.

Oh come one now.. Alligator bling can start a thread about farting in front of his favorite band while needing a shower and get weeks of activity and I post about 80s hair metal and all I get is cricket chirping?

I don't care how crazy @Alligatorbling says he is or others say he is.. he is a rock star!

BTW, here is the album in question where one reviewer says: "Re recordings by the original artists, and versions by artists of the same era. Awesome mix. If you grew up listening to the songs...you will be pleased!"

It has been rerecorded.. some are not so great rerecordings. I was curious why they would do this? Maybe they were to washed up when they attempted it again.

Yeah, I have had to skip over a few but also got a thrill hearing some I had forgotten about. If I put together greatest 80's Hair Metal album it would be awesome.

Ooohhh Bang your head sounds better than the original too! This is the song that turned me onto metal in 83' and I was hooked thereafter!

I think I've heard some of these recordings on my buddy's google speaker thing. We were both confused as to why they re recorded it. The songs we heard were not well done.

Generally, the original record companies own the original recordings. And they want fees to let other companies repackage the originals.

When bands are well past their prime earning years it's cheaper to pay them to rerecord their songs than to pay licensing fees for the original recordings.

Thank you! Now I understand why they would do this. Some really perfect it but others must not care because it sounded like crap.

BTW, I noticed on the last email that Amazon Prime members get access to some LA Guns and Bullet Boys albums.
