Dears,

I own a JCM 800 Bass cab with 4 Celestion K10-70 speakers (8Ohm). One of the speakers is giving me a strange buzz. I didn't open the cab yet, but I guess it might be broken. If I would want to replace it with a new speaker, what would be a good replacement on todays market?
I'm a bass player and the amp is a Marshall JCM 800 Bass head.
Thanks for the info.
Kr,
Pieter

I'd try to examine whats wrong with the speaker
and try to repair it first, before getting a new one.

The K10-70 are probably the forerunners to the
higher wattage sidewinder speaker, which came
in the later Marshall Bass cabs.

Thanks for your reply Tatzmann.

Indeed, first I'm gonna check what's wrong. And if it can't be repaired, I would like to replace it with a K10-70 to stay as close as possible to the original. But unless I'm not searching the web in a good way, currently there's only 1 K10-70 for sale on Reverb. Non on my local second hand sites. So, I was wondering what could be a good new replacement today? Would Celestion BL10-100X be any good?

I understand. As you say these speakers may
be hard to track down.

If i had to mix speakers i'd go with 2 new ones,
but thats just me. This way you would
have one of the working K10-70 as a spare
and the cab would sound more "even", so to
speak.

Dont really have any good info on bass speakers,
but i'd stick with Celestion too.:yesway:
