Having intermittent issues after switching between hi and lo sensitivity jacks. Hoping a little contact cleaner will address it, but I know they are not all =

A lot depends on exactly what goal you intend to accomplish, in the long run! Some products just clean, others also deoxidize, while others leave behind lubricants and/or films to prevent future oxidation. Ya gotta nail down what you actually want to do, before you can determine how best to do it!

Exactly!

Lots of people just say deoxit D5 or whatever it is. Which actually is what I think would be recommended here. I usually use zero residue contact cleaner for most things. Electrosolve maybe, idk.

As Gene said, it matters what you're using it for.

Available ... depends on your country unless you don't mind paying extra for shipping.
In the UK Electrolube Contact Cleaner was the most widely used for many years, CRC Contact Cleaner Plus is taking over now.
In USA, people talk of Deoxit.
Make sure whatever you use, it has no chemicals that harm plastics and you cannot go far wrong.
I normally use a contact lubricant after cleaning.
The best option is to replace the worn component.

Back in the 60s, we used to use old engine oil because it has a high carbon content, to "fill" holes in the carbon track. The older the beter. And the oil lubricated the control mechanics.

I just use the RS supplied spray stuff for pure cleaning as it is residue free and then D100 (Deoxit gold) as longer term anticorrosion lubricant afterwards.
Blotting paper with cleaner between blades of switch contacts first then dab of gold.
Standard WD40 is a water displacement fluid not contact cleaner, but IIRC I have some WD40 contact cleaner somewhere.

I've found and tried the specific WD40 dry contact cleaner recently (which I never seen before, just the standard lubricant), that's why I popped in. Should be available worldwide
