Meanwhile Billy Gibbons still rips it up and he's 70. Ted Nugent rocks as hard as he ever did and he's 72.

Not every musician ages like fine wine. Some age like milk. Playing included.

I generally suspect drugs or alcohol to be at the heart of such problems as that.

Agree on The Rev and Uncle Ted.
I saw Eric Clapton two weeks ago. Voice and playing is all still there. He's 76. Amazing.

Yes, Clapton is amazing because he's held it together so well despite a LOT of issues with drugs and alcohol in his life. I respect him, but I'm not one of those "clapton is god" worshipper types. He's not my favorite player. Still worthy of respect, though.
