Last year on this date. Note the windchill.
Seems really hot today by comparison.

Jeezus H...I cant even imagine what that feels like on human skin. Even when I lived in Jersey, it never got below 10F.

Ypu never let it touch skin. It stings. Freezes in under a minute.
But that was last year. We will be only a few degrees below freezing this week.

Mid-January? Yeah, we're usually pretty damn freezing here, if not having below-zero temps this time of year. Yesterday we were in the 50s (Fahrenheit). I think we got a touch of frost last night, and have had very little snow all winter. Nothing that lasted more than a few hours, anyway. Pretty unusual for sure.

I'm pretty sure the only time I was ever exposed to that level of cold was when I worked up north in Sudbury, Ontario one winter decades ago. I was a silly young kid from the south who showed up wearing ripped jeans, a not quite thick enough bomber style jacket and running shoes. First order of business - wardrobe upgrade! I also didn't know what a block heater or battery warmer were.

Yes you would. Interestingly, wear enough clothes and you are OK. Big layers. And granted don't go outside unless necesaary.

Just below the border SW of Thunder Bay and it is above freezing yet again. This may be the warmest January on record. I have been out in -40, but it wasn't that much fun. Getting soft in my old age.

You do get used to it. I sweat shoveling the driveway when it is minus 15 if I wear too big a coat.
I can hide indoors, put on more clothes. Thankful for AC because if its too hot n humid, not much you can do.

Really cold days like this are MUCH worse when it's windy. The wind is killer.

Ha ha. Nice typo!! We had one that was sunny overnight.

Um, I'm not catching the significance at all. Dissing my city? I dunno.
