    Speechless.
Plywood boxes and pneumatic nail guns are about the limits of what my patience can tolerate.
I must admit I appreciate the ongoing saga.

I've been feeling puny and working too much so progress hasn't been as fast as I would like.

Here are some pics of the front inside track that will support [not sure how yet] the angled rear mount baffle...

Most of the vine edges will be rounded to some degree except for the joints.

New option for the sub layer which I like better than the zebrawood. Curly maple dyed black then sanded back and dyed on of the two greens I have an my favorite teal azul. The maple will need to be bleached.

Right now the plan is to dye then sand back and do some vague landscape shapes.

More experimenting with dyed curly maple. I have some that has some looser and a bit more random figure so I sorta sanded it to get the saw marks out -

    Behind the vines...

Now looking at how I can make the sapele vine grain pop.

Stuck a new blade on the bandsaw and ripped up some of the looser figured maple in 2.375" width strips and then into .5" thick to run on the drum sander on all four sides.

    Laid out...

    Glued up...

Tonight will be sanded to 220 then the next dye experiment begins!

    Maple sublayer sanded to 220...

Partially dyed black, the figure starts to emerge...

Full black, 0000 steel wooled and the first green applied...

    Second green...

Blue, with each color dry swirled into the previous one to blend...

    Closeup...

    Peekaboo...

I'm thinking on toning down the top layer which means... You guessed it more dye experimentation.

Wow! You are really taking this to a new level!!!!

I have only used some scrap wood (I got left from building a few of my Clubman guitars) and started to make a head box for a matching amp... mine are just a Trainwreck inspiration, but the cabinet you are making a something totally unique! I love it!

Hey Russ, assuming you are trying different shades to see which ONE looks better, have you thought about keeping that fade from one shade to another?
Kinda adds an additional dimension of visual depth IMO.
Not trying to complicate things, but at this point....

@fitz288 good idea - I partially sanded the other side for more trials. For one color I really like the blue. Then I'd apply the darker green to the curly maple vines on the primary.

Your input is one of the reasons I post - particularly on the experimental builds - for new ideas.

@pleximaster great looking work really like the accents on the faceplate!

No problem for us. In this case I'm split between...
    - A: ...wanting to see the final result
    - B: ...fascination with following this process

I'm really intrigued by this. Thanks for sharing all steps!

Sanded the top and sides + the front pieces to .750" and now it's time to 'shape' the vines so they look semi round and to also remove the hard edge meeting the sublayer. This to give the illusion that they are floating above the sublayer.

    Dremel time...

60 grit sand paper time to round the edges. This will be followed with 120 grit...

Some dye experimentation on the top vines...

Two more sides to go. Then glue up commences.

I meant to do this last night.

    Dry bits...

Bits sprayed with water to approximate lacquer...

Half away through beveling and sanding the second side.

Rough sanding on all of the vines top and bottom... Done!

    Glue up commences...

I'll get to glue up the other side in a few hours.

I'm all in for going Maple instead of the Zebrawood- I thought it was a bit too... offensive, for lack of a better word.
The Maple is a tad more subtle, which I like.
Awesome work my friend:cheers: but I have to ask- did you do the Finger joints by Hand?

Three sides glued together. Gaps filled with CA and all 448 edges and 224 vertical sides of the intersecting vines sanded twice. Oh my aching thumbs and fingers...

Because I can't wait anymore to round over the edges...

    Extreme closeup...

Now to figure out the front and cut the BB ply for the bottom...
