Looking for any recommendations for a volume pedal that works well with a Marshall DSL40.
I've recently switched to Marshall amps and have been playing Fender using a Dunlop Volume Pedal which worked great.

The problem I've noticed using the Dunlop Volume Pedal with the Marshall DSL40 is this.
When using the pedal direct into the amp, the volume gets too loud right when you start to move the pedal.
Just the opposite when using the pedal thru the loop, the pedal doesn't start gaining a lot of volume until the pedal is 75% depressed. I had a wider range of volume control when I used it with the Fender amp and was wondering if there are any different pedals that have a more even gain of volume?

Any input would be great! Thx!

Hello,
in the loop you have to take another volume pedal, not a in front of the amp one.
Volume pedals for keyboards work very well.
Infront pedal have a 1Meg pot.
Most Keyboard pedals have 50k pots.
I use a Boss 50 FV-50L that has a second pot on the left side for min volume.
Set the min volume on the second pot and raise with the pedal to max volume.

Thanks for your response. Are you saying your using 2 volume pedals? or just 1 with the loop? and just confirming this is with the DSL40? Thank You!!!

I haven’t really used a volume pedal with mine, so I have no idea what you should do.
But I do know a buddy that used one with his Dsl40c and he set it up on his board to just lower the volume, but to also retain the girth of the amp, just at a lower volume, then step on it for a solo boost.

I think he was going through the front.

Cheers

Using a volume pedal at the input will affect volume and gain, as you are lowering the input signal.
Using one in the loop (at the end) will lower the fully effected signal volume, without changing preamp gain.

The difference in behavior here is, as @WiderGates outlined, the resistance and how the amp (input) behaves with respect to it. Best bet would be to get a volume pedal with an adjustable range/resistance. That what you could dial it in for any amp.
