I did return my Blackstar, I have but my vintage 30s in x pattern in my $40 MG cab. I also have ordered a pair of g12h75s. Yup about $500 in speakers in a junk cab. I'll buy a new cab at some point, then we can have that bon fire!

I've bought and sold a ton of stuff during this covid B's

    Marshall dsl20 head
Marshall mg cab beat to death with new speakers.....

Congratulations, I think you will be very happy once they are broken in. (Give them some time) You can just wait to stumble on to a nice cab now, you may even like 2 2-12” cabs better and find them more versatile.

I think MGs sound great with decent speakers. I have an old Marshall G50RCD I have been tempted to put a better speaker in. I slaved it into my Jubilee and it sounded killer.

Exactly, I lived in an apartment for 8 years and had surgery on my shoulder, elbows and whatever but never even think about selling my 4X12 cabs.

In my opinion the best speakers to go with an MG are the MG speakers, they were designed together. I tried lots of speakers with my MG when I had one and it never sounded as good as the MG speakers. Look for a pair of MG speakers for your cab or borrow a couple from your MG 4x12. :yesway:

Or replace them with the rocket 50’s, those I think is what they put in the AVT cabs.
    Thanks

    Celestion's best speakers are their:

    1. Alnico series
    2. Heritage series
    3. Marshall G12 Heritage/Vintage

You'll find just as many people who dislike as like the Chinese Vintage 30s. To me, they produce a harsh, excessive midrange that lacks definition and clarity. The alnicos are incredible, but you will pay for that sound.
