I’ve had a look into the cost of two of the most talked about ‘ new ‘ Marshall amps of the moment . You guys ‘ across the pond ‘ complaining about the price of sv20’s but on the other hand agreeing what a bargain an Ori20 is prompted me to investigate . I can buy a new Ori20h for £367 or a sv20h for £720 I’m not sure what that works out in dollars but sv basically twice as much as origin . Sweetwater are $ 650 origin and $1750 with $550 discount off rrp of $2300 . That’s just mad I could buy a new 1987x for £1300 ( which equates to $1600 apparently) someone is taking the piss out of you guys in the states . Fuck me just had a look at the cost of a 1987x on Sweetwater $3000 , lol . Shit I’m going to keep going and look at the 1959 hw now . So , UK £1750 ( Thomann) and Sweetwater $3850 , that’s insane . Not trying to rub it in here chaps but , really WTF !!!!

As much as I love Marshall’s, I’ve never bought any Marshall gear new. All been used or backstock. New Marshall’s are over priced here in the states but used Marshall’s are priced much more reasonably. Searching through Craigslist, reverb, music go round etc is the way to go here

Of course, used prices in UK/Europe will be lower still ;)

Wasn't https://www.musicstore.com still offering US sales? It seems you can still checkout, e.g. a 1960AWH cab, and shipping is a flat €45!

It's actually cheaper than buying in Europe, because you don't have to pay the VAT they do.

Buying from overseas, 2203X was about $1600. Cheaper than used here.

It's what it is. You guys get hosed on a lot of American gear, like Mesa Boogie, Suhr, Tom Anderson, etc...

There was a whole thread about the price differential a couple of weeks ago. Yeah it’s crazy, I bought my SC20 as soon as they came out in January 2019, I paid $1100, street price att was $1299. All Marshall amps have gone up a lot.

Now they’re $1749!

A while back, I tried to buy a Marshall amp from Thomanns USA website, (I’m in the US), they told me they were prohibited by Marshall from selling to the US.

So we’re stuck with some really high prices for Marshalls, if we want new.

There is one thing you guys can do with thomann if the site says they aren’t allowed to ship a product to your country, for example I wanted to get a evh 5150 guitar that they said wouldn’t ship to my country, so I placed a manual order where basically you directly talk to a rep and they place the order on your behalf. You lose manufacturer warranty I believe but you have thomann warranty.

Excellent suggestion. I've done similar things to get Sweetwater to ship Fender products overseas.
