Tinkered with the preamp tubes in my original EVH LBX. I'm a big fan of using 12AY7's in EVH amps but hadn't tweaked my LBX too much. Why did I wait?

Settled on 12AY7's in both V1 and V3. An absolutely stunning change for the better if you want more Marshall-y tones. Makes me curious how much of the circuit is based on a Marshall because it sounds so close now.

Over the top saturation is still available on the Red channel when dialed way up, but the rest of the amp can now go toe to toe with an SC20 and similar low wattage amps. Highly recommended if you're considering tweaking yours.

Nice. These modern high gain amps can be real tone sleepers with some tube swapping.
    Sacrilege to some, but whatever.

I put a ECC81 in the v1 of my little 1 watt Randall.
And now it isn't totally saturated by 10 o'clock on the Gain control.
