I would love to play loud at home but I cant, even at band practice I don’t like it super loud just enough loud to be comfortable.

I used to love it loud as hell when I was younger, but I prefer it much more sane these days.

My house, my volume control. But I'm single with no wife and kids to bitch and the neighbors don't care or they're deaf or just too scared shitless of me to say anything. One or the other, maybe all of them, whatever, the results are the same.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My wife is always telling me to turn up so she can hear me.

I've gone to lower wattage combos, one main reason was to get to the sweet spot at lower volumes. It works ok, but even 15 watts is still quite loud (for others), so you still can't be gettin' slappy with your guitar at 2am. This is why I tried to get you guys to build me a sandwich-sized box that offers a 10-foot radius of unadulterated loudness, while outside of that radius is dead silence. But no - you were just too FRICK-in' lazy!

    ;)

I like the volume pot in the FX loop thing. It seems to work better with amps that reply more on pre amp distortion.

All it does is reduce the amount of signal going to the output section. Why not just turn the master down?

This is a debate that's been debated to death..It's actually reached the point of boredom.

I remember when it was our parents telling us "Turn that damn thing down!" Now it's us..

To quote the DJ from the movie "Airheads"..

"If it's too loud, you're too old!"

Marshalls are loud. Deal with it, either get one of the little 1Watt models, or else get yourself a cigarette pack-sized modeling amp..:shred2:

Mine don't do that, but she's still cool about it..But, if she appears at my jam room door with her fingers in her ears, it's time to dial it down a bit! :scream:

    Airheads - :yesway:

    Perspective:

    Marshall 100 watt head = $8,000
    Marshall 4x12 = $6,000
    Attenuator = $3,500
TOTAL = $17,500 for bedroom volumes.

Now that's Rock n Roll and America!

    But not for much longer.

Build an isolation booth in a spare room. One where you can go as loud as you want and nobody hears it outside the room.

Make it with a separate room inside it for you, so you don't have to experience the full brunt of it yourself yet still have THAT tone that only comes from running an amp hard.

It'll only cost you several thousand dollars.
