Naw. This one is better because it has a Return Level control.

They can both drive an entire spool of cable, but other loops may have other attributes that they excel in making it hard to say that any one loop is better than another.
I finished installing the loop. Even with bass it sounds pretty amazing. Also without fx plugged in it sounds great to have this controllable recovery gain stage in between treble and MV

I have this one for a 2204 build, D Tinnopher on TDPRI forum designed it for me. I gave him my FX loop input and ouput impedance and within a few minutes he had this for me. He actually did four and I picked this one. I just haven't completed my build yet. I cannot state how well it works but he knows his tube impedance math pretty well. I did not want a switched loop I wanted it in circuit all times. I like the idea of the switched return jack and using a patch cable from send to return if I wanted to test output and normalize the MV. I think he said I would have a small amount of additional gain if I wanted it versus a non engaged loop - if that makes sense.

very interesting, also the paper at the end. by the way, do you know what software is used to draw up schematics like this?
I use DIYLC - DIY Layout Creator it is a similar look but I don't know Ten Over's exact program
Here is a download link for DIYLC in OSX, WIN, and Linux
I use the Linux version via Flat-Pak its auto updated.
here is an example of my stuff using a blue background:

Initially from Robinette but I have changed many parts now, it is still in progress.

I have appreciated the schematics gentleman.

I have had some PCB’s made in which I can try variations. I have two that are great for a hot channel. Not completely satisfied with the application for a clean channel to date. I will divide a way to make one more versatile & colorless so to speak. But the two variations currently add a nice saturation to a high gain preamp.

I will experiment with the recovery.

Cool to see the thread take off & have members sharing so much.

Kind regards, David

Dunno, but ExpressSCH is popular over at the Hoffman forum, which Ten Over also frequents.
Actually I don't frequent that forum anymore because I got banned for life. I think it was for giving some British bloke a hard time about standby switches, although Paul may have had a grudge against me that also played a part.

Cool stuff, but...seriously...David, dude, you need more amps in those videos!!! :hippie:

The others are hidden on any given day lol. I still have two more to build between mod jobs.

I make a point to set aside time for R & D in addition to practicing chops. I’ve stayed so busy modding my playing is suffering, having hand surgery made my picking sloppy but I’ll make it back.

I’ve been studying some of the German schematics in addition to what I already have been aware of from those great amp engineers from Diezel, ENGL & some Bogner.

Reinventing the wheel? No. But I have my own circuits. A guy asked me, how do you just whip out a circuit for Akira Takasaki from Loudness?

My answer was & is I do so much R & D that I keep notes so when asked for such a request there is a reasonable expectation to meet the request.

At the moment I’m working out a few different tube buffered loops in addition to the LND 150 types we all use but mor importantly a completely separate useable clean channel with dedicated triodes for a second slope resistor/tone stack TMB using a couple relays then eventually adding another relay for s second master for soloing.

Then on to building a couple transformers for fun & midi. Some guys still use it a lot.

I have my collection. The amps will rotate in & out depending on what I’m working on. The customers amp has to meet the mark.

There is a lot more to identical circuits & exacting voltages to nailing a tone & feel so each amp is tuned then played for a couple days to glow the caps & settle the resistors before a final bias.

Customers are educated on the importance of the output transformers. I tell them once we get into high gain that is where we will find where on the scale the OT rates much like a bridge pickup in a guitar.

I have been able to pull out what has been needed every time so far luckily but it keeps me humble.

Customer Service Is Only Second To Tone.

Kind Regards, David

THAT!!! 1000%! It's been an interesting road for me these past couple years. I retired the day job Dec. 2021. Finally signed up for social security August 2022. I'll still do amp repair./mods/builds for a special 20 or so friends in this Cincy/Dayton area. But, I'm now finding I'm preferring to dig into a lot of custom mod projects. One friend here in particular has kept me really busy. He and I should make a trek to see you with a few of these sometime!

Good to see you're busier than ever! :)

Congratulations on your retirement Brad.

I’m about 50 miles west of INDY on I-70.
