TSL tone Shift button

Messing with my tone Shift button tonight while I was dialing in a tone to record a new song.

Example 1. Standard tuned SG
Seymour Duncan SH-6

Starts button ON, then off, then back on.


Example 2
Drop B tuned Les Paul
Seymour Duncan SH-6

Button on


Button off


Which one do you think sounds meaner?

I vote for Tone Shift off. I think it sounds clearer when it's not engaged. I have the DSL40C and tried the tone shift a few times, then left it off and never looked back.

Amp sounds good btw!

I had one of these and I sold in 2014. I was never a fan of the tone shift feature. I always ran that amp with it off, and I’ll tell you it absolutely rocked with my MIM start with single coils.

With my MIM Strat and JBJR in the bridge my Dsl40c’s the tone shift is on, all other guitars it’s off

Tone is in the eye of the beholder. Do what you feel is best for the song. Production with the rest of the song or band is whats gonna make the difference. Darker or brighter is all up to you. Your obviously your on the fence so play it back a few more times and it will come to you.

Love the TSL too, very under rated amp.

I have one on my DSL and I always leave it off, too muddy in my opinion. You got nice tone without it
