I always see them talk about this on food shows and talk about people using way too much of it. I was always curious but never been around such sophisticated things I found a little bottle of it undecided to give it a try it's a strange flavor I'll tell you that. I can't really describe it I can see how a little would go a long way. So are you a user of truffle oil?
Is that the stuff that's mixed with vinegar that you dip your bread in? If so, that stuff is awesome.
nope...never tried it...even though I do love cooking(the males in my family cooked...not the women...lol)
Um not sure bout that, but l know it's made with truffle mushrooms???... that are dug up by hogs like only in certain parts of the world and I know it's super expensive I found it in a clearance bin and I was like I got to try this stuff.
Nope, there are no truffles in most truffle oil, it’s all synthetic chemicals. Tastes like a science experiment to me. Despised by chefs everywhere. Peace
I don't know nothin' bout trufflin no oil. I was cooking the other night and thought a little olive oil would be good for the saute. Wife buys most of the food stuff and stocks the pantry. I kind of know where stuff is. I pulled out 4 bottles of balsamic vinegar from the olive oil section of the pantry and gave up. I'll only dig so deep into the abyss. She reached in without looking and pulled out a nice olive oil. Sorry, too late. Dinner is soived.
I've never tried truffle oil, but my girlfriend picks up truffle pasta sauce when she grocery shops that is amazing. I'm not sure of the brand of it off the top of my head but it's sooo good!
Truffle oil? Oh yes. From white truffles for best flavour. From Italy/Istria. The cheap stuff/sauces rarely has much (if any real truffle in it), but the spendy stuff - 18 GBP for a tiny bottle! - it's like catnip. Very easy to over use it, though. And if you do, you need more and more of it to get the same hit.
Never had truffles, or truffle oil..Or caviar either. Not much into "staus symbol" foods. I would be willing to try truffle oil, sounds interesting. Or maybe even truffles, I like 'shooms! But no way in hell am I going to eat caviar, that's fish eggs..And fish eggs are cat food, I don't care if they did come from a sturgeon!
Take some goat cheese, stir through a little truffle oil, top with some toasted almonds and drizzle with a little honey. Dip in with home-made super-thin crackers. Nom, nom, nom. Warning: it's one of those starters where the main course can be anti-climactic. (Weird really, the cheese tastes of goat hair, the truffle's basically a mould and the honey is bee vomit, and yet ... it's perfect.)
