Some people even pay more money to have a guitar raked over the pebbles in the luthier's backyard and then a hot coffee mug circle on the body.

However, some really are a work of art. A Neil Young replica of Old Black. This one is a bit pricey though. Very strange story behind it.

Here's my flawed 76 Deluxe.. It's the poster child standard for flawed. But plays fantastic, all that matters ;)

Congrats on entirely missing the point of the thread.

If they didn't get it by [my sarcasticly humorous] post, #6, then there's no hope.

I'm as opinionated and arrogant as they come.
And always full of crap too.
And it just goes right over their heads.

Jimmy Page is my favorite guitar player, always will be.

Certainly you're not suggesting that picture is being used as an ad?!? Corporations would never do that, right?

Something is wrong here. His number one had no pickup cover on the bridge pickup, yet the pic at the top shows a cover.

Also, I understand his bridge pickup to be a double black T-top.

The original bridge pickup had no cover, as seen in the concert movie The Song Remains The Same. Either the cover was removed or the pickup was changed, later.

I think both. IIRC, he had the cover removed and it was double cream under it and that pup crapped out so he had a T-top installed. But I may have that wrong. I used to be all over this trivia until other things became more important.

Ah, so Gibson's quality control issues go back even further than we realized.

I actually suspect it was straighter than that but the thread crapped out over the years and rather than epoxy in some new wood the screw hole just got nudged over in a hurry. It has had a headstock repair (apparently how it lost its serial number).

Guitars are meant to be played, not displayed. As long as it doesn't affect the playability of an instrument, then flaws do not bother me. They used to though. Back in the day I wanted all my guitars immaculate, but as I got older I realized there was something cool about all the natural play wear and knicks and dings. It gives your guitar character, and as others have stated, it's how I would know and be able to identify my guitars if they were to ever be stolen. It's not like I beat the crap out of my guitars, but knicks and dings and play wear is going to happen if you play your instrument.
