I messed up with a Korg Miku stomp, totally unusable pedal because of it's latency, I bought it on a whim for 90 bux, hated it, traded it in for 50 in store credit, now 500.00 pedal, I don't know if anyone would pay that for the stupid thing but

I picked up a script ODR-1 from a bud NIB for about $40 in the 90s. Still mint in the box, hasn't been on a board in years. I'll wait a few years, sell then retire.. Lol..

We've all done it. I bought a new RAT in '88 for $50...sold it maybe 10 years ago for $100.

I had a 58 or 59 DC LP TV I picked up from a bud for $70 in late 60s / early 70s. Made out like a bandit selling it a year or two later for $200. I really needed that showman cab. I learnt from that mistake years later.. ;)

Th LP TV had a broken headstock and someone brush painted it white. I repaired the headstock and stripped the paint. A bud wanted it and he sold his Deluxe LP to another friend. Stuff got passed around in those days. I went thru quite a bit of gear, fender amps, cabs etc. Had to sell to buy.

Yeah, mines been through the ringer too, it's been right for the past 15 years though. It's a '61 and had a headstock and heel repair, DiMarzio super D rout, quarter pounder rout in front and three toggles added😁. I fixed all the routs, got a Antiquity, painted it black and added a Bigsby. I've had it almost 35 years and it rips!
I've been through a ton of gear too, but I have three guitars I'll not part with, this SG, my '36 National and my brothers old Harmony.

I'll say it again . The world runs on bullshit . Only a complete MORON would want such a stupidly over-hyped piece of junk like that . There are way more dummies than intelligent people about .

You can get better units on amazon for 50 bucks .

No disagreement w you on a practical standpoint but years ago, I developed the “Camry Principle.” On a long enough timeline, a base Camry will embarrass the shit out of any legendary car making the car ”utterly pointless“ from your POV.

For example, a 1969 Porsche 911S would likely be dusted by a 1999 Toyota Camry in all regards except perhaps highway driving top speed, given enough time. The 911S from the 1960s is a coveted classic, yet it’s a complete piece of shit compared to entry level sports cars from 20 years ago, like the Miata, base Subaru, Gulf, etc. Regardless its value comes from something vastly more.

It is harder to argue that over a metal box with a couple of knobs, but still, Silver Screw Boss units, Bud Box MXRs, original RATs, First run 808s are all bullshit being equalled or bested by their reissues or even Chinese clone companies.

I watched the JHS video where they compared a real Klon to a $30 knockoff and they couldn't tell the difference. Now, there is some... moral issues around buying the super cheap klones. But yeah, sonically, no difference. With the Rockett Archer being identical sonically and more ethical, or the StewMac kit, why in the actual hell would anyone pay >$10k for a stomp box?

But hey, I'm a cheapskate.

Mr Tornado , We can rightfully change the term "cheapskate" to " very wise man " who does not fall for way over-hyped junk .
