Yessir. Stupid is in its heyday right now
To each their own. I just feel it's important to give out accurate info. There are likely lots of folks ready these threads, trying to legitimize a decision to purchase one of these amps. Is an attenuator needed? There's multiple ways to skin the loudness cat, just as there are many attenuators across multiple price points on the market, as well as home made power soaks that do the job quite effectively. A lot of these folks might see that $700 figure and immediately dismiss any notion of owning a Studio series amp and it would be a shame for them to make a decision like that based on hyperbole. I can still recount years ago when I bought a 4010. I had barely made the purchase when, after reading about how the amp was completely unusable for home use because it was too loud I began to have buyers remorse. And I hadn't even plugged a guitar into it yet! Only to later find out the amp was more than suitable for home use, that it could be loud but could just as easily be dialed in at friendlier sound levels.
Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but exaggeration like that does no one any good and what's acceptable to pay for one person isn't for another.
You're right. I was referring to an Iron Man II (more than $700 I think). Pretty sure no one cares about one man's (my) assessment of the price of an attenuator. Well, you do. Thanks for correcting the official record
Hey, I'm the King of Minutia... Always glad to help! Didn't mean to piss in your Cheerios
I hate to say it, but main reason I dropped Marshall is their obnoxious price. I do like their amps, but no way in hell a 20 watt studio is even in the same league as a EVH 5150iii 6L6 50 watt, but Marshall thinks they can ask same price.
Not at all, Your Highness !
I am digging this band brother Joe.
Very cool!! Dig the sound
If in the U.S. you definitely should buy one of the Friedman 20 watt amps over a Marshall studio . There’s one made for every taste , they are much higher quality in build and parts and if you do get an issue with one Dave will get back to you almost immediately, the mans on it .
What a outrage. Imagine if Fender, Friedman or any other US brand used components made in Asia. Fuck...imagine Toyota or Isuzu vehicles being re- badged as Chev or whatever. Nah ... reliability would be crap & consumers would never stand for it.
I'm not buying the "inflation" or "everyone is raising prices" argument. These numbers I posted earlier in the thread were looked up the day I posted 'em:
If it was inflation or what not, all these amps across the board would be over a grand USD. In that MH category, Marshall is way on the high end price wise. The only one I can think of that's higher is the new SLO30 and Soldano has always been the top of the price game.
And Daewoo. And Mazda.
Anything electronic has Asia-made components. I'm not even sure there's that many (if any) factories producing PCBs in any significant quantity outside Asia anymore.
The Origin20h is now $449! Can I start a gofundme page for gear! There should be one. Just sayin.
Still a $100 less than what I payed for my 20H.
What is the "LM" ? Lynch Mod from Legendary tones?
Lynch Mod. Plug in on V2.
