    Sounds like my EVH 5150 III. Too much drive! But, that's the way to play those riffs!

    Me too Dog, I usually have my master volume higher than the preamp volume. On the other hand I like the fact that that kind of drive is available, (when needed or wanted), in my amp.


    Oh, I have a SC20 (mini-800) Probably should have said that up front. :shrug:

    That's not low volume. The head has been modded, yes, but that's turned up pretty loud.

    I like the fact that he'll take the time to show you how to play those things, in a manner that's suitable for teaching to a not very advanced student.

    I like high gain but not at the cost of the feel of a low to medium gain amp cranked wide open with the power stage in saturation.

    I'd rather have lower gain grind than any amount of fizzy preamp distortion.

    I try to play with less gain but I think someone sneaks in at night and turns up the gain on my amp.
