I'm completely at bay living off the Boost Channel of the Mosfets. Crank the Master and use the Boost Volume and it's thunderous. My MXR 10 Band EQ keeps it right up there my valve amps. Honestly, they are less figgity and a bit easier to dial in. I absolutely love the warmth they have in comparison to when using tubes that have more of a glassy sound under the fingers. Hybrid SS? I've got a 1997 Valvestate VS65R I originally bought just to slave to my DSL40CR in 4CM (5CM?). But I now play through it as often as I do the DSL. In fact the DSL sounds great when slaved to the VS65R!!! It takes pedals beautifully, and the OD channel is lovely. There is no speaker out to extend the VS65R. So I swapped out the 8 ohm Goldback for a 16 ohm G12T-100 and added a speaker cable jumped off the internal speaker tabs. With another 16 ohm G12T-100 in a 1912 cab the parallel wiring restores the load to 8 ohms. Fantastic amp for £69!!!!
