Speaker cables

Just a theory of mine is the question of exact length speaker cables for the A and B cabinets of a full stack. Some for neatness use a three foot and a five foot to energize the full stack and I like two five foot 12ga live wire cables. Just to settle a discussion what are your thoughts ?

Keeping cables as short as possible and using 18 gauge would be my advice, many threads on this subject.

I do agree on short as possible but I think 18 gauge is really light. The heavier the gauge the less loss of signal you get. I just use the shortest length I can get for the longest reach which is to the B cabinet and use the same for the A cab.

With one single cab I use a 3ft 14awg cable. For 2 cabs I use 2x6ft 14awg cables. The reason for 2 6's and not a 3' and 6' is because a 3' won't reach the bottom cab. I like to keep both cables the same length for they both have the same resistance between amp and cabs. Though the difference isn't much for that short of run with that heavy of gauge, it's still a difference.

The Live Wire cables I use only come in 3’ and 5’ and up so the reason for two 5’ers. I have a full stack Silver Jubilee ordered, if it ever gets here, but was having this discussion with another person and investigating my options.
