And for some reason, when they get the planes flying and cut to the guys flying them in the middle I pictured @Vinsanitizer , @ricksdisconnected and @Trident there racing each other LOL

How about the fueling system running down their arms and to their fingertip.

We did something like that in the 60s only the buddy was in proximity out of my circle so that the u control cox planes had a chance to collide. I had a pt-19 flight trainer, he had the stuka. Didn't crack em up but they got close ;)

Wonder how they keep from getting dizzy and falling down?

Here is another one with a cute girl in the middle. The old guy looks like he is feeling her up a couple times

Starting those old cox planes were great for slicing up fingers.

I had a purple buggy! That thing was a hoot..not very fast but still..
Now those planes would make me fall out going in all those circles...Nope:nono:
Down the track to the stripe and pull the laundry in less than 6 seconds is better...Straight shot..:agreed:

Around 2001 I got into R/C planes and got really good at flying. (I love the smell of nitro. Smells kinda like a BBQ.) But before you get really good you have to get used to that unmistakably beautiful sound of your $400 plane hitting the ground at 60 MPH.

    THWACK!!!

    And then the dead silence.

And then the walk of shame with a cardboard box.

I don't know how they can walk straight after that - I was dizzy just watching them. :ugh::run:

Those tethered planes must have been a PITA to fly. With R/C planes, height is your best friend because you have time to correct errors. But when you have a tethered plane maybe no higher than 15 feet, one error and it's time for the broom. And back then, you couldn't just go to Kmart and get new parts.

They use wooden dowel rods now. Well actually, in the real R/C world they use electric starters like these:

But that's for nitro. Most flyers have gone fully electric now, which eradicates a plethora of issues with nitro.

Best and most exciting car I ever had was the Traxxas Jato 3.3. The sonomma batch would get up to 65 MPH, and it sounded MEAN. Frickin' thing was almost a weapon when it kicked into 2nd gear:

I think he guns it around 5:15, but it's an incredible car, adrenaline rushes for hours:

Sheesh. Now I want one again. :D I beat my old one to death. Loads of fun if you're into fast R/C cars.

Oh - and I used to chase cars down my street with it just to see them stop b/c they didn't know WTF was happening. LOL!

Those Traxxas RC’s are some fast lil boogers...I have one of the short track trucks and it is tons of non stop fun....With a few Lypo’s and some tweaks they can run 60+......I have 1 heli, but the ground action is much easier for most...One wrong move in the air and $600 is toast..

It's the castor oil that smells like barbecue! Lots of boat racers use it. We were starting our motors at the dock one day and a little girl there with her parents on a pontoon boat yelled "Somebody's making hamburgers!!"

We used to race planes the way these guys are, but with much, much bigger planes. The event is called "Rat Race" and was one of the most fun to watch and to do, along with Combat, which is when two planes fly together in the same fashion and try to clip crepe paper streamers fixed to each plane's tail. Often the control lines would get wound around one another, it got pretty intense

The shit white boys will do to stave off boredom......

I had the same buggy, the pinto funny car, the dragster, and the Vega funny car, we would repaint them and get some RC car tires to mount on them , plus removed the choke apparatus that was to slow it down when it crossed the knot you were supposed tie at the end of the strip. And we ran them with fishing string , because of less resistance, I learned all this stuff from grown men that would set up and race them.
Do wish I had taken pics back then.
    Thanks

THAT is one of the silliest things I have seen. I had one of those airplanes, WHEN I WAS 10!!!!!
This is what happens when you get compulsion at the wrong time in life I guess.
    Was that in the US?
