That's the piece of information I was looking for.

I actually got a personal walk through of his current rig by Chet in Atlantic City.. I even held the Snakepit guitar! :slash:

    Here's the full story...

My brother and I have been talking about this amp and I stumbled onto this thread (He works at SIR, so it is a local topic for us). I'll check dates next time.:D

    LEAVE THE FUCKING THREAD THEN.

    God Sake.

If you don't fucking like Slash threads, don't fucking come in them. It's MORE effort for you to click and read them to bitch about them than it is to ignore them.

This is a generalised statement ... everyone who comes into threads just to fucking moan about them can fuck off.

Since that paragraph above isn't directed at one person, I'm guessing it's allowed? :p

Anyways , yeah ... I'm now thinking about grabbing an AFD100. I'd never use it on stage. My 2553 and Silver 2x12 is great for gigging local gigs. But damn, I should have one.

Hey Dave, I don't think that dude's here any more and that post was from Oct 2010. I agree with you though...but there's actually been a lot less Slash hate around here lately. :slash:

You're right. Some people roll a 13 lb ball at 9 pins again & again & again.... other's bring up & discuss useless information again & again & again.

I'm not very good at that ball & pin thing. :thumb:

That article was written by a guy with no credibility as a journalist (at least as far as I know) & too much time on his hands.

I don't believe any of it. When he first came out with it, I did... at least I found it interesting. But too many things did not add up. Mainly, I remember a website, where a guy had first hand information from Adam Day, about Slash's rig through the years. He said that Slash used a modded 2203 for Appetite. He also said that Slash has used a particular 2203 on every recording since... mixed with various other Marshalls.

Again, not a lot of credibility there, just some guy who said he talked to a guy who worked for the guy.

But when the AFD100 came out looking like my JMP.... I pretty much disregarded this #39/36 article all together.

& this is a comment left on Slashworld

ABSOLUTELY!!! It amazes me how, by way of reintroduction to the rock world in 1987, Slash has come to be associated with a tone that was so common in the '70s!! LOL in spades!

Compare Slash's AFD tone to any number of rock guitarists from that era and you'll see what I mean.

Think you've heard Slash before? Try Gary Richrath of REO Speedwagon - "ya got ta Roll With The Changes" LMAO!!

Yes, but perhaps it's the fact that he's kept the rock n' roll flame alive is a big part of it. There's a lot of overly processed players out there, at least Slash keeps it as pure as possible with his sound.

I will say, though, that for a guy who used to pretty much used nothing but a wah pedal straight into an amp, he has a busy pedal board going these days. Ah, evolution.

This I agree with. I remember when Slash started becoming famous and I was happy to see a Les Paul playing bluesy/rock/metal guy. In those days there were few emerging rock musicians; we were drowning in technicians instead.

I wasn't a huge fan of his then and still aren't, but he was a light in a dark era.

Slash didnt steal both, he did the original rehearsals for AFD with #39 and specifically requested it for the recordings, but as #39 was the most in demand amp at S.I.R., and they couldnt afford to give it to slash for the time the recording would take, they commisioned Tim Caswell to mod afew other marshalls, #36 being one of them. They sent #36 to slash and this was the one that he tried to steal but was taken back by S.I.R. as they had suspisions that he still had it after bringing it to a rehearsal.
