I might be getting a fender american ultra telecaster instead. The bound telecasters look amazing holy hell. I’ll have 6K worth of guitars and 6 bucks worth of talent haha
Get the SG if it doesn't have that big headstock they used for years. I think when the "61 Reissue" became the "Standard", they fixed the headstock.
I've read many of your posts, and they usually make sense, but I've owned dozens of Gibsons and Fenders, and I think this statement is a bit out there.
thank you my friend. when i speak of iconic tones i think of fender strat, fender tele, LP, 335, LP w/P90's, fender esquire, usually the original tones everybody has copied over and over again. the parker is known for how well they play not their tone. in my experience anyways. ive never hear of anybody trying to make their guitar sound like a Parker if that make better sense. not knocking the parkers at all. they play fantastic the few right off the shelf ive played and lacked nothing to be desired. i see why people like them indeed.
I honestly have always been partial to the 3 color sunburst but the arctic white looks good too. People also can't stop raving about the texas tea!
I like the Texas Tea also, but my last 2 guitars have been black. Your guitar - I'm not trying to push anything (including the Tele over the SG). My Tele is a burgundy burl top and was my first home build.
Butterscotch blonde/blackguard with brass 3-saddle bridge. I like my tele to play modern, but look vintage.
Mainly because you don't have to spend a lot on a Tele to get a good one. You can build an awesome one yourself for around 400 bucks. Also, Squire Classic Vibe makes some nice cheaper Tele's as well.
The only "complaint" that I've heard about the special Dimarzios in the Parker Fly is that they sound too hi-fi. I see that as a good thing. If I need it to sound more like a single coil, P90, etc. all I need is an EHX Knockout pedal which does a very good job at accomplishing the different tonal characteristics of various pickups. "EHX.com | Knockout - Attack Equalizer Reissue | Electro-Harmonix" https://www.ehx.com/products/knockout
hell i think they sound great myself. ive played 3 or 4 of those guitars. they were right and tight from the jump. all off the rack too. i too like EH pedals.
I have two '61 SG reissues, one standard and one with the lier vibrola and I love both of them! The only issue is the one without the vibrola has bad neck drive but if you know what you are doing it doesn't matter.
If you decide on the Tele I would definitely get an older one in very good or better condition. Something from the 90's or earlier as I don't feel the quality of the fretboards are as good in the newer ones, unless you're buying from the custom shop. Just my opinion cheers
You're torn 'cause you don't have a Tele in your midst. The Am Pro models are a very good value for the money.
I also say both. Great tonal variation. If price is an issue you might consider the deluxe ash telecaster. It has brass saddles and reverse control plate so the volume pot is closer to your hand. That is the one I have and I think its awesome and almost half the price of the American Pro. The only additional work mine needed out of the box was some minor setup adjustments (like every other guitar I ever bought regardless of price) and some fret dressing. The edges were a little sharp.
