Hey guys, I was curious is anyone could help me out with a problem I’m having. I have a JCM 800 head that has an odd looking serial number. I’m trying to figure out what year my head is but I keep running into a recurring problem. Everything I can find about serial numbers states that the letter in the serial number is always first. Mine however is at the end. I can’t tell if that nullifies the year stamp on the forums or it doesn’t matter. If someone could get back to me I would really appreciate the input. Sean Serial number #05974N
The N at the end should signify a 1981. The S/A indicates a 50 watt model. Would be nice to see pics of the whole amp as there is a knob on the back that appears to be a mod. Show us the whole info panel on the back. See the following link for how they work. http://www.superiormusic.com/page024.html
Fair enough. But the date code should still stand and if it's 1981 the SA may be correct. Either way Check the number of tubes and model number! Would like to see more pics from OP if he weighs back in.
