so around december january i started getting a clogged ear, it got so bad for a bit it sounded like a midwest summer when the secadas were at full chirp a sort of sound if you know what that sounds like? Went to my general dr and he put me on an antibiotic for 2 weeks and it did nothing. Went back and he told me i needed to see a specialist. So i went to an ENT a friend recommended (he has hearing aids) the ENT told me i had fluid behind my ear which i knew i could hear it when i chattered my teeth it sounded like thumping on a mellon He told me to pinch my nose and blow but i told him i didnt think it was good to do that. So he used a ketchup bottle analogy, new bottle wont pour till you introduce air up into the bottle with something like a knife. Once air is in there it will drain. He told me to do it twice a day, flush my sinuses with a rinse and use a nose spray till it was gone. After about 2 weeks things have never sounded better! I go back in a couple of weeks for a hearing test i have no doubt i will be ok. Ive always had sinus problems but never really thought an ear infection was linked to a clogged ear i was scared i was losing my hearing in that ear.
well, in all honesty, i had 2 of them. went from one ear to the other and that price above is EA. by the way.
My childhood was filled with ear infections. Always the right ear...in my twentys l had to have that ear flushed a couple times a year. Then l was golden through my 30s and then my 40s brought tooth jaw and ear trouble on the right. Those went away and my 50s have brought sinus infections
That sucks brother, as I get older more an more trivial things keep happening , every time I dive into the pool I have to get the drops to let the water out. ! Cheers
C'mon Mitch..stand on one leg, tilt yer head and jump up and down. Never fails...eventually lol Or listen to some Priest at high volume. That'll empty ya of whatever ails ya lol lol BP
I had the odd one that left water in the ear. Took months to clear. Aaw an ENT guy for nasal polyps. They got so bad both nostrils were completley obstructed... Got me one of those nasal squeeze botrle rinse dealies. Feels like waterboarding the first few times. But with Pulmicort (a roid normally for lung issues) in it, it has cleared em up! I havent had allergy issues in that way for 2 summers now. Hoghly recommend using them even with saline solution.
I blew both eardrums as a kid with infection - don't want to go there again. I used to have huge sinus issues, sinus meds 24/7 and yearly strep filled joy. Then I started saline nasal flush with 12oz everyday in the shower - 1/2 teaspoon of non iodized salt in the water is all is needed. No more meds haven't had strep in years. Russ
Well i didnt flush mine as often as i should of, i must not of heard him say to do it more then twice or one bottle that i refilled once, the first flush had the good water in it and 2 packets of the salt stuff. I should of done it a few more times, then he sent me home with some nasal spray not te over the counter type some that isnt as habit forming. Got my hearing test results today, i actualy think i hear ok, but they told me about 2-3 years ill need hearing aids. THATS when i lost my hearing HUH!?! SAY WHAT?!?! It says 100% at 55db 100% at 60 on the ear i had issues with. IMO this isnt the right time of year for me, i have my air conditioner in my room going its kinda loud and my air mattress is a little loud. He told me to come back in a year and get em retested ill have em in better condition then im sure of. They did a test to check the pressure behind the ear drums "tympanogram" and it showed i still have some pressure behind both of them which i could probably clear up if i keep using the nasal flush and work out that pressure. I could of popped em before and maybe it would of helped me hear some higher sounds hard to say.
I had surgery for a deviated septum. I lost weight because it is hard to eat when you can't breathe (nose was packed). Helped a lot until I had to start wearing a cpap at night. Feels like I deviated my septum again.
Damn ..new treats each decade. For years, about every 10 I have to have a huge carrot pulled out of one of my ears. F'n gross too. Major wax build-up get's to pretty much making my deaf in that ear 'til I get it taken care of. Now, I've got two more hernias that need surgery too. Suck.
