looks to have a particle board back. I've never seen a 1960B w/ feet cups. (& not caster cups)

Is this crazy? The back of the cab should be covered in Tolex? The back looks as if it was replaced?
    It looks odd somehow.

yeah, my Park (1990's) had a painted particle board back & also baffle (which I replaced w/ BB ply)

But, I've never seen a 1960 like this. I remember there was another cab that was built similar, but can't remember what it was.

Never seen a bottom cab w/ head feet mounts (not saying there aren't any) either.

I meant particle board (changed my post)

MG412 or an older valvestate series cab?? Smaller and not a 1960. Entry level cab. Worth about $150, I believe...I see them while perusing ads.

If it says 1960BX on the tag, it has been transfered perhaps...

it says 30x30x14, which is full size. He might be lying, but, why do that w/ cash/carry deals?

I does look like somebody changed the back of it...just weird.
The rest of it looks like a stock cabinet.

The back is like that on a lot of MG cabs. As a quick visual tip if you look at the front of an MG cab you can see the 12'' speakers are packed into the baffle, leaving no space by the white piping, I'm surprised there's any wood left to support the spks!

I think the seller knows he's trying to pass it off as a 'real' 4x12 and is acting daft... I think the actual model plate above the jack states what model it is... unless it's the rare 4 x 13.5 cab that marshall only made 8 and a half of in 1962?

The rear cover screws don't look original.

That’s a Valvestate 412 that someone cut a new back for, it would appear. Just looking at the circles in the grillcloth is enough to tell that there’s not normal 1960 series spacing between the speakers.

Definitely a valvestate cab. Look how close the speakers are together, not a full size 1960

yeah, I was figuring that it was fake. I'm not too familiar w/ all the new cab's. I figure that all 1960 cab's either have caster cups, or skid plates. This having the different setups on the foot cups, looks like it's made to match w/ either a head, or cab & 1960s don't come w/ small feet, that would mate w/ those cups.

$300 bucks is not a good deal, either. There is one at my GC listed for $180.

Yeah..but he is trying to pass it off as a 1960...which 300 is kinda ok for one...just a rip-off artist in full bloom

I had to use one of those for a couple of hours at a last minute rehearsal in a studio before a gig. It was horrible. Shrill, spiky with no lows.
    Don't even think about it!

They are plywood cabinets arnt they?

Ask if he can take the handle off and send pictures of the speakers inside.

If the speakers are stock its not worth $300. IMO

Like some one else posted though just looking at the outline of the speakers threw the grill is a quick indication of what size cabinet it is.

1960 8412 both side by side

yeah, 1 thing I was looking at (maybe someone mentioned it above), is that it doesn't seem to have the spacer between the baffle & the grillcloth either...

Still a cool cab for $75 not $300.
