yeah, it's different out there now!
I don't expect to be heaving full stacks in and out of clubs around here too much lol
BUT we want to be prepared when the opportunity arises! There are still a few venues left in the this area that will let you go balls to the wall, if only occasionally.
Hell, Napalm Death is playing here next week and I think some local bands are opening.
But like dude said up there, we mostly play the blues. I got a little 30 watt combo workhorse, pair it with a 100 watt Marshall through a 4x10 for the bass and we make do in the little bars.
We do like to crank it sometimes, though.
Update: I have a few leads, and I did actually find a storage space! It's going to be my absolute last resort though, because it's all the way across town. Like, can be an hour drive sometimes when traffic's thick. I'm waiting on this one dude out in the country to call me back, he says he might have something.
And yeah, shout to Patti Smith for real

I feel your pain, man. I've been playing guitar in metal & punk rock bands for the past 30 years. this whole thing you had going sounds like it was a pretty sweet arrangement, but I gotta be totally honest with you... I've NEVER heard of storage space facilities that permit full band rehearsals, multi band shows, parties, etc... I would think that would be a very unique rarity that a person would have to enjoy while it lasts. has anyone else heard of storage rental places allowing these things?

In CA, they've done that for a long time. Many storage places have no power in the units, but some do. I remember back in the '80s, a bunch of my friends rented out mini-storage places for practice...

I've also seen, where, what appears to be a giant warehouse, is built in, to a bunch of rooms, like apartments & in this one place that I've been a few x's, must have 200 rehearsal spaces inside. Inside it's like 3 stories, w/ a cargo elevator, etc, to the upper floors to lump gear in/out.

There's been places like that, remember SIR, in LA. I remember (early '90s) going to pick up my Ampeg gear (I just got) from a rehearsal space & unfortunately it had stairs, so we had to lump a bunch of cab's down the stairwell... luckily, I was much younger back then...

Final update for a while, I guess...
After spending close to 2 weeks running down the whole phone list & checking off every single storage space in the local area Google maps brought up, I finally talked to the lady at the only one I know still rents out to bands, aaaaall the way across town. She put me on the waiting list... the three month long waiting list.
lol
Take what you can get, I guess.

Try a church with a hall. A lot of clergy are cool with music and they need to rent halls during the week when there are no weddings. Just don’t leave a mess and they would appreciate some income as well as helping to foster a local creative scene. Or I would if you asked me.
I use a church hall. But we do not abuse it.

Small amps and drums at 50 %

It is ok.

7 pm to 10 but always pack up by 9.45 to stop complaints.

It’s rock without the roll.
