The work they left behind...
Those dam cigs and I still see people smoking everyday and just think to myself, you must be a big time gambler...
I gave up cigar smoking (2-3 a week) about 10 years ago and boy am I dam glad I did!!!
Ain't it the truth, and a new number isn't going to make things any better.
We'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb,
We'll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind
RIP Edward Van Halen. Free of pain and suffering now.
Congrats dude! Funny you mention this , because while i gave up smoking cigarettes and cigars years ago, i unfortunately got hooked on a damn e-cig over the past 18mons and around lunchtime at work today i was thinking " I need to ditch this damned thing". You hit the nail on the head with the Eddie mention....i think its time to go cold turkey and just stop this nonsense.
Goodbye to a genius!
Amongst the greatest of all time
Not to get preachy, but what ever gave ANYBODY the notion that your lungs are designed to inhale anything other than good clean AIR?
Abuse your lungs enough and they'll break. Then you're up the creek without a paddle.
Ask yourself if you want to live to see your grandchildren graduate from school. Decide then if the smoking/vaping is worth risking that.
double wow ,to this day my favorite guitar sound has to be the tone he got on the van halen one album ,in my old age i became a tone chaser because of what is called the brown sound .easily one of the best of all time if not ,pound for pound ,the best electric guitarist of all time r.i.p.
I can answer that easily: its not worth it. But a more complicated question is why do you start to begin with? Some started to fit in, others thought it looked cool but for me? It was a stress reliever, albeit a very dangerous one, but then again so is anti-anxiety medication. I gave up smoking cigarettes years ago and felt great for about 13-14 years but then stuff happened, start feeling stressed out to no end and there was the damned e-cig, which i will say is MORE addictive than any cigarette.
But after some reasonable self reflection these past few days, im cutting the bullshit out entirely. Its just not worth it anymore and ill figure a different ( non toxic) outlet for stress I suppose.
We all make stupid mistakes
Dang i thught he was doing good, in that video "WHat it means to be an American" he looked about the best ive seen him since the Balance tour. Then that last tour i thought he was doing better but i heard some dates got cancled but i thought it was just typical Dave spouts i didnt expect this.
Let's celebrate the fact that he inspired so many and helped expand musical horizons across the globe. Let's be thankful that he left a huge amount of material for others to study and to use as springboards for the future. Let's be glad he was here long enough to see his dreams come to fruition fully and completely.
My entire childhood is gone now.
F*ck all the things whatsoever.
And by the way, what an absolute sh*tty year 2020 turned out to be.
Dudes, my brain is having trouble accepting this. I know it's true, I know it's real; but it doesn't seem real. I literally can't believe it. He isn't my hugest hero or influence or anything, but it just seems so unreal....a shocker for sure
Well said Trel. Eddie was a phenomenon to say the least.
RIP to the GOAT. There's not many one can say that about that most everyone will agree there's a legit case for calling him that. Eddie was certainly in that conversation.
Thanks for all you do DOD.
RIP Mr. Van Halen
Yea this sucks......back 40yrs ago my dad used to plug the tape deck with VH playing through his plexi and bounce me on his knee to get me to go to sleep as a baby....VH was my favorite childhood band....never turned out to be a VH guitar player but can't help but love his guitar playing.
He's probably teaching Eruption to the man upstairs as we speak.
