I have found memories with ZZ Top coming out of big speakers at many hog roast parties back in the 80's. Kegs were never in short supply and the young ladies were always plentiful. Those were very different times and about as close to paradise on earth as I've ever found. Good people, good times and just plain fun with no hassles from anyone, ever !

My favorite ZZ Top tune from back then is this:

We went to see the Tops at Brixton Academy in London. My wife had an ear infection and couldn't hear properly. As they walked on stage she said 'my ear has cleared!'. They played, they were great as usual, on the way back I asked her about her ear. She said 'just after they went off it blocked up again.' Only ZZTop can do that.
Dusty had suffered with hepatitis for a while. Whether that was a factor who knows. Too bad either way. I imagine he had a pretty good life.

This post is merely a correction. Yesterday I posted an R.I.P. for Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. I made the mistake of mislabeling their drummer's name as "John Beard". This of course is incorrect. It was 100% my fault and mistake. The correct name of the drummer for ZZ Top is Frank Beard. In my grief and sorrow, I called him John. I'm terribly sorry for this error and mistake, especially at this time. Obviously, I'm a guitarist and unfortunately, not aware of all of the bassists and drummers that play with the guitar heroes that I listen to. I am very sorry for the mistake. Once again: R.I.P. Mr. Dusty Hill.

The only guy in the band without a beard most of the time and his name is Beard!

yeah the whole "twin" thing look alike dress alike thing made them look like a novelty
band in my book. cant stand bands that try to dress a like. srv and his bass player
    come to mind as well.

I got ripped on this site for just misspelling Randy Rhoads last name by accident once (I do it sometimes in a rush. I didn't apologize since it was a simple mistake like you made. No big deal at all IMHO, there's more important things to worry about in life. :)

I'd be willing to bet, It's not the worst thing he's ever been called.
    Shit happens.

Well that's nothing. I can't believe you only put one parentheses and never put the other in!

How am I supposed to understand what you're trying to say? Lol

Seriously though... some people huh? I love RR but spell his name different probably every time I mention him.

I'm surprised it hasn't already been posted by someone on here.

But Dusty Hill, bassist for ZZ Top, died in his sleep last week. Another one of the greats is gone, and since ZZ Top has always been the three original guys since '69, probably means the end of the band as well.

    RIP Dusty.

I'd worry less about correcting a small honest mistake and instead focus on why i feel the need to apologize profusely for something that didn't even matter. I understand you're trying to be respectful but it just comes off as weak, if you act like this IRL then people will lose respect for you very quickly

Nobody can replace the original ZZ chemistry, but I was glad to see Elwood taking over the bass. He is "ZZ Family", so it didn't seem wrong...just different.
    RIP Dusty.

This still hurts. I have stolen so any bass licks and bass lines off that gentleman.

Rest In Peace, go home to your good reward, you good and faithful servant.
