    Hi all,

Unfortunately I have blown the 1st stage of my EL84 Radiospares OT which was in an 18WATT model 1973.

Can anyone help me to find another period correct EL84 Radiospares OT or can anyone help me with an address to have it rewound and have it look like the real deal again?

    Thx

Couple of people spring to mind, Brian Wallace at Marstran in USA or Majestic in Dorset UK. They will charge extra for the strip due to the varnish. Stipulate exactly what you want. When they did my AC30 PT they even saved the outer wrap with the date code to keep it looking original.

We've been chatting on other matters. I have a few spare EL84 OT's, but have suggested Paul at Ampaholics as a first port of call. If no joy there, I'll let one of mine go.

You should contact Merren Audio. I like it if hed add a 18 watt to his catalog. His Marshall transformers are the best most accurate.
"All reproduction transformer are hand wound to the exact original specifications of winding geometry, steel laminations, materials, varnishes and of course sound"
Maybe hed needs a original to do this ??

Unless Chris has changed is opinion he does not do strip and rebuilds normally, he prefers new lams etc.
Shame but I gave my last spare RS EL84 OT to a forum member for his 18w restoration last year.

Oh didn't know. He certainly could and I would highly recommend you contact him. Id be very excited if hed look at it, clone it and hopefully restore it for you.
Im kind of interested in how close GDSs RE output really is to the original. Most likely not in the same league as Merrin

Well, I also own a GDS model 1974 18WATT with 1x12inch which just sounds awesome! Don't know about Merren.
