So last year I quit the band I was in, Underwing.

I quit the band because it demanded more commitment than I could give due to having a full-time job as a teacher as well as a baby on the way.

I still had one final song left to record with the band called “House on Fire”.

This is the solo from that song.

It was a very difficult solo to make but I was very pleased with the final result.

I recorded the solo with my Fender American Standard Strat on the recording, but did this jam in the backyard to check out how it sounded with my new #1, the Gibson Les Paul Special!

I used the Strymon Iridium as an amp sim on the Marshall mode and used my 1981 DRV to “drive the amp”.

Would love to hear your thoughts on both the playing and the tone!

I listened 2 times thru and then went back over some individual parts before giving it 2 final listens as if I were in my car, to check my perceptions.

9.6 - Perfect, but not quite ready to sell.
Diversify your phrasing more from about the beginning of the 2nd quarter to the end of the the 3rd quarter, because that would be a good place for you to make that solo build its way up to a more exciting crescendo, before dropping back in as you do at exactly 1:39. That would be awesome. It always helps me to think of measures as if they were boxes and try to diversify each section. If you did that, you would be staring the listener off low in section 1, taking them higher and higher into a frenzy in 2 and 3, then dropping them back in place from 4 (1:39) on-out. - If that makes sense.

    Every other thing = 10.
I love it. Great tone, great playing & style, nice technique, and you've got a really pro feel. :yesway:

Thank you so much for that detailed reply filled with nice words and constructive feedback! I truly appreciate that!
This is the most difficult solo I’ve ever written! Mostly due to the second half which goes off the rails. I almost felt like going insane because it was so difficult to figure out what to play, so the end result is really frantic and all over the place, haha!
