Was there ever a better live act than Prince?
I don't know how you pick the best live act, but I sure wish I had got to see Prince live.
The show, the energy, the band, the engine room etc.
I've always liked prince and my friends have always shunned me. I'm almost 50 now; I still like Prince and I still don't have any friends...
Purple Rain, but not much else.
prince was cool. he could really play when he wanted to.
purple rain the movie was a great movie indeed. a must see.
as for a better live act.........Elvis.
If you've seen Elvis live, you are much older than I thought....
saw him about 2-4 months before he died. mid-ish 1977
yep. much older than I thought.
Saw him live years ago, yes there are better live acts out there, not many though.....he blew me away
I saw him many years ago with the same band in the video clip posted by Australian. He played most of his current stuff and a medley of his past stuff. He also played every instrument at least once during the show: piano, guitar, drums, bass, trumpet, saxophone, etc. His shows were extremely fast paced and high energy.
I started going to shows around the '80's. Seen lots of people perform-some of them still living and some not. Can't say what's the best I've seen, but Prince was among the best.
I heard his vault has something like twenty years of unreleased music; hope we get to hear some.
Thats what I wanted to hear. It would have been an entertaining show.
The energy level is up there.
Yeah looking forward to hearing the music from the vault. There's some good guitar tone on his last album.
Never seen Elvis, never even wanted to see Elvis.
Said no thing other than Kirk Hammet's 1991 wah.
I live in Minnesota and saw him in a club when he started to be noticed. I was floored. I totally forgot the time, the year, and the planet I was on (and I'm a Heavy Metal guy). I was meeting someone in the club and Prince happened to be the act playing. Something about his performance was magical. He was pure joy to watch.
A better live act then Prince?
Sliiiiiightly different energy level there. Maybe The Who, circa 1969-1973, would be closer.
Yep for sure, that's one act that tops Prince in my humble opinion.....
