Hey guys,
Been offered a 1966 JTM45 with a changed output transformer. The amp is pretty road worn in general. How much does the transformer a, devalue the amp? And B change the sound? The seller still wants what I think is strong money £6k I don’t currently know what the transformer was replaced with but hoping to get this info soon.
Sorry no pics at the moment but what do you guys think?

'66 would presumably have had a Drake 784-103 or 784-74 OT? The odds of finding a replacement are vanishingly low. Something to consider...

Ye I was thinking this. Think I will have to walk away from this one as there’s no room for haggling with the price either

An amp with a changed output transformer is a different sounding amp though. Better or worse, however it will sound different from a Marshall JTM..
