    I've never had a Timmy, but I'll second the SD-1 & BD-2.
For a 3rd I'd say I like my MXR Custom Badass Modified OD.

Just got the Timmy. Unbelievably good. Next time Paul releases a new batch, I'm getting second one.

If I could have 3 pedals in one I would love to have a clean boost-ish Klon/Timmy thing then a mid hump 808/SD-1 thing then a distortion like a Rat-ish thing.

I'm not an overdrive guy. My OD comes from the amp. I insist on that. I'll allow a clean boost as a means of overdriving the amp as well, but I have no use for a distortion pedal.

im gonna have to go with the Timmy or analogman king of tone, Carl Martin or wampler plexi,
nobels od or browne ampli Protien dual overdrive.

ok i know thats 6 but any 3 would be very nice. covers all levels of OD from my thinking.
if i HAD to pick 3, king of tone, carl martin, protien. :wallbash:
no matter which 3 i pick its gonna be the wrong 3 lol.
shit, now im gonna be up all damn night thinking this over. thanks @HOT TUBES 70 :run:

My new found fave and I have quite a few of these rug rats is the SD-2. Great interface DI into the recorder.

Oops got me guilty there HT. Here's the real one under my custodianship. Mid to late '90's era MIT. Stock.

The pedal can be set for internal circuit switching by stepping on the pedal or can use an external switch to do so.

Word. Me too. I've never understood people using them after the JCM900 came out. Seems so strange.

I'm getting old too I guess because the only one I've heard of here is the Tube Screamer. (which is awful by the way - lol)

An awful lot of people use overdrives not to create distortion on their own, but rather as a means to boost the signal that hits the first gain stage of the amplifier. That's why the Tube Screamer with the gain on zero and the output cranked is so popular-it presents the first gain stage in the amp with a hotter signal than the guitar alone does, and its mid hump/bass cut cleans up the signal as well which reduces the tendency of many amps to fart out when hit with excessive low range frequencies.

How about I just list the only ones I know since I don't use them. Then you all can laugh at me ...

    BOSS Turbo Overdrive
    BOSS Distortion
    BOSS Metal Zone
    BOSS Distortion
BOSS Heavy Metal Pedal - I had one of these back in '86. That's 1986!! Lol.
    MXR Distortion+
    Ibanez Tube Screamer

Those are the only "distortion" pedals I'm personally aware of.

    :)

Well guys I tried the SD-2 straight into a Neve 1232 and then into PT and it gets a nice growl that mixes well without going through the Marshall.

Tried the SD-2 with the Slash and of course you can tweak things to get a sound. But if just the OD itself, I've got the TS and a bunch (I can't name them all off the top..forgot what I have actually:ohno:) of other Boss OD's/DF-2/SD-1 and for now the SD-2 hits the spot.
