I'm needing to get a new stove. I have an electric coil type top. The smooth top surface ones look nice but I have heard that they can scratch easily. Can anyone testify to that?
I used my cast iron stuff on my old glass top all the time.....very carefully. It didn't scratch as easily as I thought it would. I really liked that cook top. Easy to keep clean too.
I have one. The key is to not slide your pots & pans sideways. Lift straight up and down for the most part. They don't scratch super easy, you just need to be a bit careful overall. I wouldn't let it stop you from getting one.
I have a black smooth top - a bit of pain in the ass to keep clean as anything bakes onto the surface and I have to soak with windex to get it off. I prefer gas - both kinds - to electric. Russ
We have had the built in GE Glass Top now for 20 years and it still looks great. No issues and it cleans up easily. IMO, it looks better now than any newer gas top does as they also scratch, chip, turn colors and are a royal pain to clean.
I don't understand this thread right now. What's it about? Seems like ovens. Not sure, so I don't wanna pass judgment yet, if ever. In fact, I'm not even sure if I belong in here. Do I? Or is this more like a private conversation thing.
Geez Rush, just use a little bit of this stuff, it cleans anything off a glass top stove and it’s easy as can be and it’s cheap. I don’t know how it works but with hardly any scrubbing at all burnt on anything is gone...it’s an inventory item in our house, trust me and make your life easier! It’s 4.12 bucks, the cream one! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Weiman-G...N8zLhjNtd2C_xBmBChuOCQJUdm-6AXSRoCR10QAvD_BwE
It's about stove tops dude. See the black surface underneath this here homemade pizza I made? That was my old glass top stove which I loved very much.
I literally just qouted your post so when you look to see what I said you would see Blinks delicious pizza again.
The glass tops don't scratch easily at all. We scrape crap off ours with a knife asbthey recommend. Then use some kinds stove goop to clean it with. Way easier to keep clean. Do it man!
The tops are ceramic. They are very durable. I have been using one for 17 years now. No scratches at all. I use Easy-Off to remove any burnt on spills and cleanup is quite easy. FWIW: I use Plast-X to polish the black plastic around the control surface. It removes all of the hazing from the grease. Looks like new!
