Hi everyone! Just got the origin 50 head and I intend on getting 2 of the horizontal 2x12 origin cabs to stack underneath. I don't really need a 4x12 for many gigs so my plan is to gig 1 2x12 cab but have another for when I need it. This is my first head so can anyone tell me which outputs to use for both 2x12 cabs and if running the amp with this pair is alright?

I don't have the 50, but the manual says the speaker jacks are the same as my 20.

The 212 cabinets are 8ohm (two 16 ohm speakers wired parallel).
There's no built in way to plug in two 8 ohm cabs.
You could connect the two cabs with Palmer Cab Merger box (about $30).

The two cabs in series = 16 ohm to the amp.
If you're handy, you could make one of these for a few bucks in parts.
When just gigging with one cab, use the center 8 ohm jack.

So They're not rated for a 4 ohm Load?
Never really paid attention when I had my Ori20H
    The 2525h has a 2x8-4 ohm option, I know that doesn't help.

Another option that's a few bucks more, is to ditch the Seventy-80's in the cabs and replace with some better 8 ohm speakers.
Series wire the cabs to 16 ohm and you can plug in one or two.

So running 2 of the 2x12 origin cabs will be a no go unless I get that merger unit or replace the speakers?

Yes, there's no 2x 8 ohm option built into the Origin amps.
Another option would be to make (or buy?) a speaker cable that series wires the two 8 ohm cabs to the one 16 ohm jack.
If you have jacks and cable laying around, either the series cable or a series box is a fairly simple build, or a few bucks in parts.
But then again, the Palmer box is only $30...

Is the Palmer box a good option? No loss in tone and safe?

Don’t sweat getting 2 cabs. Two 12” speakers and 50watts is all you need for almost any situation.

No tone loss, just an external passive wiring box with a few jacks.
It series wires your two parallel cabs into the standard series/parallel configuration that most 4x12 do internally anyway.

    Congratulations on your new amp.
I am also a proud owner of the Origin 50H, I actually have 2 of them, they are to me the perfect canvas to get many of the tones you hear in a wide variety of music :shred2::shred:
    Cheers

Oh absolutely! I've had the 50 combo for a couple years now and it's perfect for my and my bands style. Perfect for the vintage 60s and 70s guitar sound. With my les paul it nails the ZZ Top, Zeppelin, Free, etc. Also I'll add that stacking the 2 cabs is partially because it looks so damn cool but I don't have need or a vehicle to carry a 4x12

Oh hell yea, I stack mine on top of MG cabs, and I think it looks killer.

I love the look of the 20 head on the 2x12 vertical cab but for only $100 more you get 30 more watts and my drummer is from the Bonham/Ward school of bashing lol. However the 50 head looks kinda weird on the vertical 2x12.

Turn it sideways and set it up !!
Back in the early 90’s at one point I had a pair of A cabs, and I wanted them stacked so I put them on there sides.
    Cheers

That looked sweet! Does anyone know of a vertical 2x12 cab that's as wide as the 50 head? I don't like how the 50 head hangs over the vertical 2x12 origin cab but I like the height.

Yeah I agree, that would bug the hell out of me,… I would never do t. You know what might work, a Marshall 2061 2-12 cab, that’s a great looking cab too, come to think of it though, that won’t be wide enough either.

Thanks, I made my own because the 212A was wider than the 20 head.
(and they were out of stock when I got the head...)
I'm baffled as to why neither one is the same width as any of the "matching" cabs.
