Just curious as to the 2x12. The 160W total could suggest an MX212 with two Seventy/80's. Please tell me it doesn't, right? :)

The Origin 212s come with Seventy-80s too.
Another reason I built my own...

As far as the Origin goes, great amp.
Depends on what you want "without pedals".
Lots of threads and posts her about tubes changes and speaker options or the O20H.
Are you looking for more or less of something?
The easiest, and by far the least expensive, ways to change your tone on the origin is with pedals.
I'm not sure why so many people think that's like selling their soul to the devil.

I bought the Origin20h and the 2x12 cab with seventy/80's..and it sound awesome...maybe I got a good pair of speakers...don't know why some people don't like them...other than they are low priced...I use a WAMPLER Plexi-drive deluxe and a Vox wah in front and it ROCKS !!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock your speakers. If this sounds good to you, well great - rock on and enjoy! That said, I'd be surprised to see someone listen to cabinet X with Seventy/80's and the same cab loaded with say Creambacks and not a have distinct preference for the latter. I like the cab, just I would load it differently. :)

Break in those speakers before changing them. I still use the 70/80 in my DSL40 C and have no problems getting good tones out of it. Plenty of clips using it that I like. I for sure find it useable to the point of wanting to keep using it.

What keeps me subjective is I have 2 412 cabs loaded with excellent speakers that kill with Marshall amps. One is an Orange PPC 412 and a 5153 EVH. Plus variety is good to have. Have numerous 112 cabs loaded with other speakers. I had to know what I liked hehee.

I know lots of players here love Creambacks especially in their DSL40's. I do not. Find them too layed back, smooth and lacking bite. I guess anything that smooths out the upper kerang of my Marshallz gets a pass by me. I like my Marshall rude. Not nice.

Congratulations on your new amp and cab
Mine are the 50H’s, if you are looking for old school Thin Lizzy with no pedals.
Set your gain at 8+- no boost
    Presence 9
    Treble 8
    Mids 8
    Bass 6
    UFO same as above
But throw an SD1 in the front of the amp.
For more flexibility grab a MXR10 band eq to get exactly what you ears tell you what you want..
I love mine, and they can get very plexi like, with the correct tweaks..
    Cheers
    Mitch

For me origins need to be clean boosted just a hair for my base tone. I dont like the built in boost at all so I use a GE7 eq in front to slam it.

This is how my Origin sounds with only the SD1 with settings from my post above, no boost from the amp, and I am playing through an MG cab, with 2 eminence golds in it..
    Cheers

Congratz on your new gear. Enjoy the shit out of it!:eddie:

I have my 50 ORIH going into my greenback loaded 412 with these amp settings without pedaling the front. Guitar has DiMarzio SD. 12AY7 V1 and GL KT77's. Getting great blues, rock and hard rock using guitar volume/tone knob adjustments leaving amp setting as is. Get my clean by rolling off guitar volume.

    Boost on:
    P-maxed
    T-11:30am
    M-nearly maxed
    B-9am
    TLT-3pm

I do use a few OD pedals at times for variety. Can't have the same sound all the time.
