I wonder if anyone's working on an algorithm for the odor of a virtual dump on the conference table.

That stuff is mainly smoke an mirrors. The ways it's presented to be and the reality of it is borderline fraudulent.

Sounds like the usual big tech philosophy of fake it till you make it

https://markets.businessinsider.com...ual-real-estate-deal-record-4-million-2021-11

A plot of virtual land that went for $4.3 million in The Sandbox is the most expensive metaverse property sale ever-

"The new record broke the one set just last week by Metaverse Group, a subsidiary of Tokens.com, when it purchased a patch of digital land for 618,000 mana, or about $2.43 million at the time. That land is set in the so-called fashion district of Decentraland, an online, virtual-only environment. "

Yea, but more like fake it 'til they can get more big dollar research funds. Rinse, dry, repeat.

The business of presenting false optimism to the blind with deep pockets. Or should I say, with access to our ...not so deep pockets.

I'm lost on this. Is it about selling virtual estate for virtual money, from one avatar to another?

No, it's actual money for an in-game "land" parcel in this dumbass VRMMORPG

I have a VR headset. I only use it for flight simulations. Totally not interested in using it for general gaming, internet browsing, meetings, shopping, etc.

The day may come when that changes. But for now, I don't see that day coming for me.

But there was a time when I was sure I'd never use the internet to actually purchase something. Boy, was I wrong on that!!!

What Adieu said. Real money for a virtual development. And I think they will pay real money to real architects to design the virtual "building". lol

For the entirety of human existence we have left our homes to get the things we need and all that changed in less than two years. Can anyone provide an example where human behavior has taken that rapid a turn? Looks like Meta, Google, and Microsoft have potentially found a way to monetize that and it concerns me.

First off the headset battery lasts about 2 hours, you can get extended battery addon but nobody in hell is going to be in there all day. Wife and I have had these for a couple years now and we enjoy some games together and there are some cool features like 360 videos where youre “in” the area, like concerts, scuba, skydiving, etc.
Yeah you can do virtual meetings and they’re using it to do trainings for mechanics and doctors which is cool. I’ve got friends who went off the deep end with the VR porn games and such, but same guys would go off deep end with alcohol or drugs anyhow I figure.

it’s all about self control.
