I was on the Marshall Forum a few years back and decided to jump back on and say hello ! Yes, I play thru Marshall Amps, mostly with a Strat, but others as well. Yes, I like Marshall Amps. Yes, I badly want the SV20h and matching vertical cab. Yes, I may settle for the Origin Head and Cab. Nuff said for now. Cheers and Salutations ! ROCK ON !!
back. Lots of recent threads about both the SV20 & Origin20 if you search a little. If you've got any questions, throw 'em out there.
Thanks for the warm welcome ! I've been lurking again on a few forums and selectively surfing utoob, etc. The Marshall Forum always kind of felt like home and is the only forum I'm on at the moment. Currently playing thru a couple of 80's amps and occasionally a Vintage Modern combo that needs a serious re-tube. My main amp is still the often maligned first version of the Marshall Artist 3203 head (not the Artiste) and it's the black and tan one. The other side is a Lead 100 MOSFET, also black and tan, which is mostly used for the modulation side of my rig. Both are half stack split by an A/B pedal. They get the job done, but I'm at the point again where the they don't produce the tone I know I'm capable of. I've played thru both the 100 and 50 watt Plexi's (orginal ones) but never owned one long-term. They are the proverbial TONE in my head, but you have to crank them to make them sing. The Studio Classic has the tone, but the price tag is hard to swallow compared to the Origin 20h and they both have PCB's that appear oddly similar. That said, a PTP hand wired wonder amp is not in the cards right now. Okay, I will be back soon and will try to behave myself ( - : Rock On !
But unlike family, we will talk you into buying things you want but don't need. Get the Origin20H and a Boss SD-1, it's the TONE in your head and you don't need to crank it unless you want to.
WELCOME BACK JEFF Glad to meet ya, I posses a Origin, and lead 100 mosfet+ a Dsl40c As said above me the Origin an SD1 will get a very convincing plexi tone on the lower $$ scale. Cheers Mitch
Thanks for the reply on the Origin. I did a deep dive on utoob and found some better demos of the Origin amp. It seems the better players know how to dial in some good tones from these amps.
