Who has owned, or owns, a UK made DSL and a foreign made DSL? What do you honestly think, and how reliable are the cheapie ones?

Reliability of tube amps these days are pretty much down to the tubes. It's the end out the line for that technology and as i understand, only three factory's left producing tubes. it's a dirty and costly procedure making them and if we push to hard for better product, they might just deside to close the doors instead..

The outer shell is made from HDF instead of ply. Whatever goes on inside, there are people who have had issues with the newer Asian stuff and people who have played them extensively on tours. I've seen them in backlines for awhile now. The older series MAY have a bias drift issue.
I had a 40C for a few years, it was fine. Take care of your stuff. I see no issue with the newer stuff.

I've owned both. I purchased the dsl100h back in Oct, so I've had a few months playing it now.

I honestly think that they are extremely close tonally. Marshall may state that their identical, but I sold my jcm2000 a few years back, so I don' have them side by side.

I love my dsl100h, and have zero issues so far. I knew what I was expecting out of it and it deliveres. I play classic rock/ classic metal and it's awesome.

Can't go wrong with either. For the price of a new dsl100h, it's a no Brainer imo.

Btw..something about the new ones just released that I don' like tone wise.

OK. I was under the understanding that some years of DSL as well as TSL had the bias drift issues back in late 90's, early 2000's.

I meant older UK made DSL series, not "cheapies"...

WTF are you on about? The older DSL's were supposedly under the same bias drift board problem as the TSL, so I thought. Enlighten me please if this is wrong. The above isn't helping.

Looking for something I don't remember what.
The 2005 JCM2000 DSL 100 I had was great....much preferred it to the JVM410h I picked up a few months later. I bought the JVM to replace the DSL, but it did not and I sold it on pretty quickly. The only reason I no longer have the DSL is I don't use 100 watters much anymore, if needed I have my 100 watt Vintage Modern head, but I only use that occasionally to keep it used.
My 50 watt VM combo and Astoria Dual see all the action these days....even the SL-5 can cope with smaller pub venues.

Couple weeks ago several dudes in denial had their panties in a wad giving me grief about "how DSL's dont have bias drift". Just checking ...

I was saying they do, not that they don't. Thought it was obvious.

No denial here. Although i have lucked out with my TSL as I haven't seen signs of it. I should actually do a proper check some day.,play it awhile, check bias, let it run, check again, etc...
