    Crazy day,

Basically I was out all day looking at guitars. I went to the Chicago Music Exchange on Lincoln Ave. It's a pretty well known place. I went there to play a Firebird VII, because I was planning on buying one from a member here. I ended up looking for a 2013 Traditional also.

They only had ONE 2013 Trad model, they said that they couldn't really keep them in stock. I quickly learned why because the one they did have was amazingly nice to play (I'll explain why later). It was a sweet playing guitar, but it also had the FIRST qc issue I have ever personally encountered on a Gibson. Long story short the paint on the top leaked into the neck. Normally something like that would not bother me, but I wasn't going to spend full price on that.

After Spending a couple hours at the Chicago Music Exchange I decided to visit the Guitar Center near Lincoln Park on Halsted. This is the nicest Guitar Center I have ever visited. They have a legit platinum room with lots of cool guitars. Still, they had only 3 2013 Trads (they sell fast, apparently). I tried two. One was a heritage cherry burst. It was freaking beautiful, and it had some freakishly cool looking dark grain all over it.

Here I am actually playing it :)

The heritage cherry was heavy as hell. I mean, it was almost uncomfortable....AWESOME! The reason I didn't buy it was because it looks a lot like my current 08 Traditional, I wanted something different

I ended up getting a 2013 Traditional in a carmel burst. I really like the color and the fretboard is very dark, unlike what was on the heritage cherry. The one thing people ARE not mentioning about the new 13 models is the size of the neck.

The neck size on the 13 model are HUGE. It is MUCH thicker than what is on my 08 model. The fact that no one is talking about this is really strange, because it is the thickest neck available next to what is available on the reissues. In fact, I couldn't hardly tell a difference between the thickness of the necks on the r8's I played than on the 13 Trad models. It's significant, and worth mentioning...

The tone coming off this thing is awesome. It's what you would expect from a quality LP, I love it... I don't name my guitars or call them "she/her" (not anymore at least). Anyway it's sweet, check it out....

One last thing though, I borrowed my wife's camera and fabric she uses for her photography business, so ya.... It's a little girly looking

Did you dye the fret board? It almost dark enough to be ebony.

    Congratulations on the new LP!

Nope it's just a dark rosewood. Up close its grainy like any other rosewood board...

Horrible Gibson, you can just see all of that bad QC that everyone talks about around here. You just wait until the neck falls off and fire shoots out of the pickups! You'll see!:)

You have that signature clapton "flipping the bird" power chord down ;)

Nice les paul. I've been admiring some wolfgang style guitars lately but I'm always a sucker for a beautiful LP, one day I'll add another to my '11 trad
