First> Well that's obviously NOT your first mistake. You've picked up a guitar AND a Marshall, so now you're doomed to burn in the fire down below! :nutkick:
Next> :welcome: to the forum! You'll fit in well!

    Which G12H's (55hz vs 75hz)?

Speaking for myself, I like the G12H's (55hz), and I play a lot of heavy stuff from The Cure, to John Cougar Mellencamp, to Phil Collins. They're brutal. Boys Don't Cry has never sounded so good.

Btw., this is really a speaker thread, so I'm moving it to Cabinets & Speakers.

Regarding "better sounding in the Hi gain dept. ...

It's a matter of taste and opinion, of which I will offer mine:

I prefer the current Celestion Vintage 30 for everything, and don't very much like the way any other speaker sounds unless it's a stock speaker in a combo amp that already sounds good to me. The G-12T-75 would be my distant second choice. Creambacks and greenbacks and scumbacks and G-this and V-that, Lead 70, 70/80 or whatever - none of them have the voicing, the edge, or the spark of the current V30.
